Re: Photographs of inside of my RICOH SG3110DN - is this normal??
Hi,
I bought a printer through someone on the forum about a month back, because the seller said it was in perfect working condition (it cost £90). Yet it has banding issues that I haven't been able to fix, I've tried everything!
Yesterday I lifted the hood off the printer so that I could peer inside, and I spotted these lines (just like the banding that ends up on the prints) running all across a piece of plastic film. Photos attached:
Is this normal? It looks as if the lines are part of the plastic (etched or bumped onto it) rather than ink accumulation.
All replies are appreciated!

Is it normal for the Ricoh ink lines to have those air bubbles in them?

I have no idea?! But the worst of the bands are always in one place. I've done a head clean, nozzle check, alignment, head position.webtrekker;117403 wrote:Is it normal for the Ricoh ink lines to have those air bubbles in them?

I only ask because air bubbles were the reason I removed the CISS system from my Canon inkjet printer. I've never looked inside my Ricoh's though to see if mine are the same.

Did air bubbles cause you banding problems?webtrekker;117406 wrote:I only ask because air bubbles were the reason I removed the CISS system from my Canon inkjet printer. I've never looked inside my Ricoh's though to see if mine are the same.

They certainly did, but I don't know whether the Ricoh's are any different to a normal CISS system.

Maybe purging your Ricoh would remove the air bubbles and improve the performance banding-wise, but it does take a toll on your ink levels.
