mrs maggot;84233 wrote:saw the satin mugs at a previous show, think they will add value to orders (until everyone else undercuts as normal with good items) novachrome stand always looks the same at whatever show we see them at, but i always think it shows just how much you can fit in a small display area shop wise. they always seem to think there is only one way "the novachrome way" and that everyone elses products are poor, i would love to hear other peoples feedback with their customer services as i have a feeling they never have a faulty product if you know what i mean.
When I first saw Nova Chrome at a pro photography show at the NEC some years ago I was impressed by the range of goods available and at first by the man on the stand and thought there was the potential to do dye sub as a cottage industry and that NC would be a good company to do business with. By the time I was really thinking seriously about taking the plunge another year had gone by and I saw NC at the pro photo show again and was still impressed by their demo - the man wrapped, pressed and dunked a mug in front of me and in just over three minutes I had a really impressive Spiderman mug in my hand. I could feel my credit card twitching in my wallet! However, when I started asking questions about reliability of eqpt and repairs etc bearing in mind they were in North West Wales and I was in East Anglia - thats when things took a turn for the worse.

All the bloke from NC did was to try and rubbish the competition and took great offence at my implying that any of his products could develop a fault. My credit card immediately retreated into my wallet and dug itself in. Not so long after I joined the DSF and someone suggested Listawoods. What a contrast!

I have been thinking about garment printing maybe with an Oki white and at trade only last month, I thought I would give NC another chance and went to talk to them about the press they could offer and once again the same bloke set about rubbishing the competition and then set about rubbishing my judgement for considering anything other than his eqpt. When I said that I thought there might be an error in his figures for the running costs of an A3 Ricoh verses an A4 he got quite snotty that I had the temerity to question him. That really was the last nail in the coffin. I am 99% sure the man I spoke to was Mr NovaChrome himself. When I left the stand the lady who I took to be his wife appeared to be ticking him off - maybe I am not the first potential customer he has severely pissed off.

No idea what their customer services are like but if they rub people up the wrong way as much as Mr Nova Chrome does ......................

Right thats got that off of my chest :o)

my only Gripe with the whole day was one supplier! they were one of the sublimation suppliers not anyone we have mentioned yet, and i just cant remember the name for the life of me (someone remind please) Anyway i walked to there stand and immediately was told they were not for me as i was wearing a t-shirt with the name of my t-shirt printing company on, when i said i also supply Sublimation they were ok to talk to me, anyway immediately i was asked who i buy my stuff from and when i replied with several different companies and my main one which is one of the main ones on this forum, the man just started slagging this company off and telling me i should not be dealing with them as they advice people to buy there inks off ebay, i stopped the guy from carrying on with this bullshit and told him that i didnt agree with the way he done his business and i was glad i used the other supplier. i then walked off NEVER TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN (all i got to do now is remember who it was lol)

Hi Laura, just seen your post Re Novachrome. The stand is impressive and so is the tech advice they give. Just prior to falling off the DSF forum scene about a year ago (due to circumstances) I had purchased a printer (not from Novachrome) which I just couldn't sort out for the life of me with many kind folk on here also helping. At the time one of the tech guys from Nova was watching the post and I was at the 'pulling my hair out' stage. The next minute the phone rings and there he was... he spent a heck of a long time with me undoing what i'd done and then put it right in just a few minutes when no one else could. So I have to say that the tech advice is second to none and I have since purchased nearly all my subli items from there.
Never a breakage nor have I been disappointed with the quality of the stock.
Such a shame some of you have had negative experiences with them.

I go along with your opinion of the stand AJLA it was just Mr Novachromes attitude. Its one thing to rubbish the competition but to rubbish and irritate a potential customer looking to spend a couple of £K is plain daft.

Couldn't agree more. Having exhibited many times ourselves at the NEC at the Focus show no matter what side the bed you get out of you have to just 'SMILE' even when you really don't particularly like the person you are talking to. And as for running down a competitor... No not the done thing. Shame as the products on offer are good.

Hi
Just touching on the subject of Nova Chrome as one or two people have asked maybe I'm a bit biased because I bought most of my equipment from them I actually travelled all the way to wales to collect all my gear personally but I have to say they couldn't be any nicer and from a customer support point of view I cannot fault them any problems I have ever had have always been dealt with very quickly.

I to was at the P&P Sunday and when we tried to get into speak to them they were run off there feet couldn't get near went back Monday it wasn't so bad getting to talk to them (directed at Paul ) you must have got them at a bad time mate as there usually very nice to deal with (mrs Maggot ) I'm not saying that everything they sell is perfect or any worse / better than some of the other dealers but in my opinion out of all the sub dealers at the show including xpres who were as we know absent this year I do think they have the best visual display not saying from a lay out point of view its the best but hey lets be honest wouldn't most of the suppliers there be telling you were the dogs '#'# to get you to buy from them lastly I don't work for them but people asked for an opinion so this is mine job done

What ever you do dont tell novachome you use a brother priter the idiot will just belittle you!

Tried explain that brothers dont have ICC profile capability, oh ok what ever, just a good job we have paul. :)

On the other hand i do like the vast range of unisub stuff they sell. Although some of it is a little on the steeper side to other uni sub suppliers its the best range ive seen.
I have a short attention span.... HEY LOOK A PLANE!

Paul: Excuse me Sir! Have you got any selection of slates?
Mr. NovaChrome: Only on the roof... (turned around and when to some person)
Paul: (turned around and walked away and never came back)
