Hi Weston,

Ive just checked out inkexpress ltd and their inks, cost wise, seem even cheaper than cityinkexpress. Im quickly becoming a believer in you get what you pay for, so my question really is, has anyone else used inkexpress ltd?

You've hit the nail on the head, you do get what you pay for. I've been through a number of exercises testing 'cheaper' inks and printers with varying results over the years. Yes, you can set up a cheap system and many achieve this but I would still advise going down a tried and tested route first.

Whilst I found very cheap inks that have performed very well over a long term, the service provided by the sellers has been abysmal.

You're not just paying for the inks, you're paying for the support, backup and so on. Quick example:
I was concerned that my Sawgrass printer wasn't working as well as it should. To cut a long story short, Sawgrass sent their top engineer out to see me recently. This involved flying him from Brussels through Heathrow, Aberdeen and on to Shetland. A very expensive visit for SG but they stand by their products and support.

Hi Justin, Think you are very lucky with sawgrass support - would not even consider looking at mine and is was still within warranty - check out my other threads on this forum regarding sawgrass. i can only go on my epson printer results and sawgrass results and in my option sawgrass are over priced and not that good.. i did get i paid for a excellent epson setup for a fraction of the price with excellent advise and support and finally making a profit..

You paid a premium for that support and had the right to get it sorted. Too late now I guess but I could have spoken to people in SG to get that sorted for you :-(

Hi Justin, Thanks for reply - think there are a few weeks left on the warranty - they are welcome to it - if they want it to test etc... what ever i said they just kept repeating - the inks are out of date - replace with a new set of inks before they would take it back under warranty for repair or a look at it - problem was not the inks - but it did use the ink very fast. thanks again for a great forum..

Yes, I'm afraid you'd need to replace the out of date inks first.

Thanks for reply Justin - this is what i could not understand - carts had ink in them - yellow was reading empty three other carts levels keep going up and down 30% / 50% approx..

The Joke is we are ceramic printers and use ceramic toner- the tip we use in ceramic printing is to weigh the carts - my yellow cart weights more than some of the other carts which read 50% approx.

We tested with a yellow cart and it still prints ok with the out of date carts- the out of date excuse does not wash with me for warranty repair..

CIE have kindly sent a replacement CISS out today.

Did a test print this morning, full page graphic, a white sheet of paper without a drop of ink on it came out

Fingers crossed.

Replacement CISS made no difference at all.

My business has been closed down now due to not being able to produce orders for a month now so thats me done!

Thanks for all that helped with my printer troubles.

Hi Nevada, Sorry to hear that - i am sure there is someone on the forum that would have printed you the prints while you sort your printed out - just a thought...
