Re: Problem with fading areas on ceramic coaster

Post by Jessie »

Hi, I've just started printing onto ceramic coasters and have noticed a little fading on some areas after pressing.

I've read on here about using a heat conductive rubber pad helping to even out the surface but am not sure where I can buy this from and if I need a certain thickness?

Thanks in advance

Check that you have the correct pressure set on your press. Run your finger over the coaster and see if it is bumpy where there is fading.

Thanks for the advise and link GoonerGary. I will check the pressure setting.

The fading is in a small area on the coaster (about 8mm in diameter) and although the coaster feels smooth I think it's a little uneven so the silicone layer should help.

If it fading where it is bumpy, just put it down to a bad coaster and don't make any adjustments, although increasing the pressure might help.

I tried with another coaster and it came out great but then the next one has a small patch of fading like the first one? I added the silicone layer and more pressure and they are now all turning out fine - thanks for your help :-)
