Print CMYK test in margin of print (Photoshop)
Re: Print CMYK test in margin of print (Photoshop)
Don't know if this is possible, did some Googling but could find it.
Was wondering if there's an option hidden photoshop to place CMYK test colour bars in the margin of prints, like what you get at the bottom/side of newspapers and other mass printed things, just so I can keep an eye that inks are flowing properly on larger print runs.

I think you can do that by choosing options (where Color management is) on the print screen and checking the calibration bars box.

Hmm,
What version of PS do you have - I'm on CC and have all of those options except the calibration bars!

Ah, don't some Googling and the calibration bars option is in the PostScript section, which is not selectable with the printer I'm using

It should be in the print options or pre/press - I think there is options like that in the print part of coreldraw.

Hi Pisquee,
I have CS4.
It looks like I was lucky in choosing the printer. Following your reply, I found that it is greyed out for some of my printers. According to PS online the calibration bars are only available for postscript printers.

could you not just manually place/draw 4 coloured rectangles at the edge of a file, and either use that as a template or place it in each file as you are printing? Would be a little slower, but should only take a few seconds.

Spongerobinson is on the right track.
Draw up a set of boxes and fill them with cmyk, rgb, greyscale or whatever floats your boat.
Open a new action and allocate it to F2 or another convenient F key
Record an action to
paste the colour patch into an area of the page that would nomally be empty
Flatten image
Then all you do is hit F? Everytime you start a new image or just before you print
