New to sublimation confused re colours etc
Re: New to sublimation confused re colours etc
Hi
I have the Ricoh 3110 and have installed the powerdriver as I can't use the ICC profile in coreldraw home and student. I understand that printers use the CMYK colour palette and camera's, online etc is RGB. In coreldraw is it best to work with the CMYK or RGB colour palette as for me the CMYK colour palette in the home version is very limited, not sure if you can download the full colour palette or not? I've tried google but can't seem to find anything that I can install.
I want to offer the customer a set list of colours that they can choose from for text so the normal red, blue, green etc so for these to show online will need the RGB html codes so in Coreldraw should I use the RGB colour palette and test how they come out on polyester shirts? is there an easy way to print out the RGB colour palette for testing?
Thanks for your help, as you can see I don't really know what I'm doing!

Re: New to sublimation confused re colours etc
The Ricoh printer will expect RGB, so if you sent CMYK to it, it is only going to convert them back to RGB.
The PowerDriver is effectively just selecting the appropriate RGB ICC profile for what you are printing to.

Hi Lianne,
If you go here - http://www.sawgrasseurope.com/technical ... er/english - you'll find the support docs to set up Corel Draw to work with the PowerDriver.
The easiest way to print a palette is to go to the print screen in CD, use Powerdriver as the printer & choose preferences:

Here choose the substrate you'll be using & the paper you're printing on, then click "print palette" & follow instructions:

To see the finished colours you will need to sublimate the resulting printout onto whatever item you are going to print.

Re: New to sublimation confused re colours etc
Using specific colours on screen is meaningless though, as the end customer would need a calibrated screen for the colours to be accurate. And the customer would need an understanding of the differences between a screen and printer output.
Re: New to sublimation confused re colours etc
thanks for your help everyone. I've printed out the colour palette which Karen suggested from power driver and pressed on a t-shirt. I also typed some text in corel draw and changed them to the colours I liked from the colour palette and pressed these on the same t-shirt but the magenta didn't come out right it looks purple and the turquoise looks more of a teal, the other colours came out fine. Not sure how they can be different as I've checked and I've select RGB: 255 0 255 for magenta as per the colour palette and that looks great. Any ideas? Also do you keep your sublimation paper in the box it came in until you use it or can I leave some in the printer?
I pre-pressed the shirt for about 5 seconds and then pressed it at 190 for 50 seconds. Pressure is set to 3 I think, it's an Insta so you adjust a knob on the top from 0 to 10.
also can I print inside the t-shirts too, just for testing?
Thanks
Lianne

Re: New to sublimation confused re colours etc
Hi, anyone able to email me a file for the corel draw RGB default palette please so I can print it out and press on t-shirts as I can't do it in my version. TMT said the power driver palette won't match the corel draw palette so i need to work from the Corel Draw palette.
Thanks Lianne

Hi Lianne,
You can create your own - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CMb9BQTo4w
Create a new CD file.
Choose Tools ->macro ->run macros
Click "macros in Global macros"
Choose "CorelmacrosCreateColorPalette"
Then "Run"
Choose the palette you want to print from the drop down box.
Set spacing to something small to save space
Click OK
Corel draw will create the palette pages for you to print.
Works for any palette that's open on the right hand side of the screen.

Re: New to sublimation confused re colours etc
Hi Karen thanks, I have the home and student version though which doesn't seem to have macros. Will probably need to look into getting a full version and this doesn't allow colour management either.
