Black problems
Re: Black problems
I seem to have got the other colours spot on, but the black is giving me a headache.
Completely new to sub printing.
Have a doodles 5in 1 press,
the black is coming out with a marble effect.
Upped the temp to 200c ( or in f as this one is ) 3.5 mins
got a slightly better black but not shiny, dull and flat.
Any advice would be great, Cheers

Re: Black problems
The press you have is almost neither here nor there, as long as the temperature read out is accurate. Without knowing what your ink is, what your paper is, what the coating is on your mugs and if you have an ICC profile for those inks running through the printer you could be going through a lot of trial and error and a lot of wasted mugs.
Re: Black problems
ok here goes
Ink
Paper is something called SRN - Bought from Ebay
Mugs are also bought from Ebay
Weight: 11oz
Material: Ceramic
Double Coated
Contents include:
36 X White Coated 11oz Mug Sublimation Print Heat Press
Completely new to all this, wish we had found this place sooner.
and No icc profile, running an Epson XP-212 with the continuous ink
I shall await my arsekicking....ta
I also print direct from illustrator, settings - Photo - Matt photopaper

Re: Black problems
What Scott said.
Looking at the photos, I would be questioning the transfer paper you're using.

Re: Black problems
OK, no idea on the ink - unbranded, so could be anything - could be amazing quality or complete crap, but you'll never know without an ICC profile to go with it - if whoever sold you them can't supply one, then you'll need to get one made - talk to Paul (moderator on here)
Definitely get some better quality sublimation paper to have the best chance to getting proper transfers and a good profile making.
Until you have the profile, your colours will never be right.

Re: Black problems
I'm getting half decent results on everything but black, i'll go talk to the folk that sold us the package and see what comes of it

Re: Black problems
That second mug looks pretty reasonable. Pisquee is right on all counts, and I would definitely get some better, higher release sub paper ASAP.
Re: Black problems
Woman from Monster doodles didnt have a clue what an ICC profile was!
is this package a bust without one?

if you guys have some links where i can get some decent stuff from that would be great

Re: Black problems
I'm using the same package and funnily enough same inks, but using different sub paper, getting Paul to sort me out an icc profile as the epson profile is off by a bit. Like you I'm completely new to all this, so its definitely a learning curve, didn't know about this site beforehand, icc profiles, different qualities of papers and inks etc etc, just trying to muddle through to get respectable results.
good luck
good luck
