I have run out, two Init Fills drank about 700ml and I now have the cleanest pipework possible.
So I have re-installed the original epson inks, and done a few test prints using the epson drivers...hmm the plain grey is a very good grey, as opposed to the very green I had before. Another general image is not quite popping almost generally a bit dull. But given the age of these printers some deviation is perhaps expected.
Next stage is to profile for the epson paper with epson inks. Then I can see how it looks from there. Mrs Janners can run some some images through it and I can see if it holds it's colour.

If it does she may end up with it as her printer!

I would expect that you have essentially re-primed the dampers/heads with the init fills, and the pressure will hold for a while, but will gradually fade off again back to where you were (which is what was happening on ours until we got the dampers replaced)

Hi Tim
That was my line of thinking, but I was rather unsure. Running standard ink through it and printing on photo paper is rather cheaper and far less time consuming!

So I shall see what happens.

Yup, that's a good website to keep bookmarked!
Definitely download the service manual, but don't let it scare you - it looks worse than it is in real life!
