Arghhh..Gone green again!
Re: Arghhh..Gone green again!
Yep my wide format epson has taken to printing everything really green again. No changes to anything, all going well then Bam! Green.
Looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy new. I have none of the problems that I had last time...no bubbles or anything, perfect nozzle checks, no sign of any fault, nothing. Every thing looks perfect.
One very sad and distressed Janners.

Pull the plug. pull the print head into the middle of the carriage (push down on the cutter to release it from the capping station)
Have a look at the dampers (with white things on top of the head) these feed the ink into the head. Do they all look the same?
We had a small leak on our cyan on our 9600, which meant replacing the damper, at the same time noticed that the light cyan was also about to go, so had that replaced too.

Hi Tim
Unfortunately all looks good. Ink in all dampers, all look uniform, no sign of leak. I thought yesterday whilst doing some prints that the blonde hair looked just very slightly green, but so slight that nobody else could see it. Then today 60% grey comes out very green, so green it looked as though it should have been green. Browns...yep green.
I have hit that point where I have lost confidence in it.

The light cyan one on ours wasn't noticable until we had it apart - it looked like it was leaking inside, like cloudy blue colour, whereas the main cyan was obviously leaking.
Think of this in terms of experience with CISS systems on small printers - get an air leak on the line, and the ink doesn't flow properly. So, it could be an air leak on your damper, which isn't showing as an ink leak - it may just need tightening up - there a nut to tighten on them, or maybe the damper just needs replacing? I suppose you need someone local who can service it at a decent price - dampers cost about £20 for a full set, so may as well replace them while it's open. If you can wait around while he takes it apart and does the job so you can learn how to do it yourself, you be much better for it in terms of knowing your own kit.

I agree with knowing your own kit. Problem is there isn't an epson service engineer within 100 miles. When I did find them they didn't want to know as the printer no longer supported by epson....really useful!
I have checked the white nuts, all tight. All the dampers are equally full (not easy to see in there is it)

Re: Arghhh..Gone green again!
I suppose it's finding another enthusiast/user who knows what they're doing locally. These are old printers, and there should be owners around who know them inside out.
Re: Arghhh..Gone green again!
Thankfully we found one not far from us by accident, who came and fixed ours for free
Re: Arghhh..Gone green again!
Always magenta causes the problem, original ink, third party ink, dyesub ink, makes no difference!
