Re: Matching colour management in Corel X6

Post by Jason »

I am constantly coming across artwork that I can't open in our current version of Corel X4, I think I need to take the plunge and update to X6, however I'm concerned about the colour management.

I need to ensure we can print out of Corel X6 to our dye sub printer ( Ricoh 5050) and hit exactly the same colours as we do now, as we produce lots of repeat products and colour consistency is vital.

I did download the trial version but I wasn't able to reproduce the same settings we currently use so that didn't fill me with too much confidence, especially as the colour managment setting screen is completely different to X4.

Just wondered how much of an issue this is likely to be, and if there was any quick fix.

Cheers

i've just updated to X6 using sawgrass ink with a Epson B1100 and didn't have any problems as setup is the same as it is with X5 (we used to use)

We had to install profile, change colour management setting sin X6 and change colour settings in print screen

As a work around for previous customers, you can always open your file in X6 and save it down to X4, then open and print as you did before. I know its not ideal but at least you know the colours will be exactly the same.

if you print to ricoh surely you use powerdriver? if so then all other colour settings will be ignored so not sure why colours are different if you print to this same powerdriver?

Hi Paul,

I don't think the Ricoh 5050 uses Powerdriver.

Is that not right? I've always had CMYK set, I'm not sure how I originally came to these settings but these are what seem to work and so this what I have always used.

Incidentally I thought the monitor profile would just affect how the colours appears on screen but it also has an affect on the print colour too.

Simon, yes that's what I'm thinking of doing, trouble is I seem to have a whole set up based on workarounds at the moment :-)
