Re: Printed clogged? Printing lines...

Post by asub »

Hello,
I had noticed this morning that I must need to do a head clean as I had lines accross the black ink. I have now got to this evening and done what must be 100 head cleans and it is still the same. I have tried to flush out using alcohol but it does not seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas?

The printer is epson sx235w.

I do not really have time to order anything as a replacement as I am now very behind on my orders. On the test print after the clean there are still lines on the black, and the tops of letter and number sequences below that have a blurred top to them as well as lines through.

Thanks
A

Are you using refill carts or a CISS?
Does the printer print properly if you put Epson carts in it?

Hi Asub

There are really only a couple of options that may help you.

Have you tried printing your artwork rotated? You just might get away with it missing the blocked head. I doubt it but worth a try.

Or find a member of this forum that is close to you and see if they will run the prints tomorrow for you.

Failing that a new printer that is designed for sublimation is your only option. Buy cheap pay twice as they say.

Fold a piece of kitchen roll so that it fits in the channel under the print head.soak it in alcohol. Slide the print head over it a few times and then leave it on top of the kitchen roll overnight.

Alcohol can be too harsh, and printer cleaning fluid/flush should be used -if- it is actually the print head which is blocked and not just a flow problem from the carts/CISS.

Unless you're suggesting buying one of the new Epson wide format sublimation printers, then no printer currently on the market was designed for sublimation.

Fair point so I will re phrase

Failing that a new printer that is proven to work well with Sawgrass cartridge sublimation inks, not CISS or other brands as this would be illegal on an A4 printer. Or you could go with a wide format and use other brands of ink, but I have assumed if you are currently using such a cheap printer that a wide format is not something you would consider right now.
