Re: first vinyl tee.
its the chrome we have found most problematic its very thick and therefore does not like being washed and screwed up as most t shirts end up

this metallic silver is very thin i just cut the front lettering for the left side chest area very small and set the pressure to 10g as i cant go any lower than that. the blade is barely out of the holder tip and i have fine adjusted it. I have a 60 degrees blade in for the really fine work and its fine. I did have some red vinyl and that needed more pressure to cut it as it was much thicker. I will still give the chrome a try out and see what happens.
what is the best flock to get and where? i want to try some flock this week also along with some other vinyl i have here.
I have a few more designs to try this week with more intricate designs, the worst being a japanese dragon that winds around the tshirt, that should be weeding hell and an interesting press! but i am looking forward to a quiet sunday on that one.

I got one of the 40x60 presses you see on ebay as well as one of those all in one 38x38 jobbies for now. i am getting a large press soon along with the large format printers, this is so i can do full face prints as i have some amazing designs to do. The plan is to get a large stock pressed up and then have the website and shop go live ready for summer.mikeoooze;70885 wrote:That looks absolutely fantastic!! Out of interest, what vinyl did you use and what heat press have you got ssp?
The vinyl is some i got off ebay also, i am looking around for different brands of vinyl and seeing whats good, so i am open to suggestions.
Most of the day i sit with my sketchpads either working on new fonts or scrollwork or layering loads of vector shapes until i get something good then i trim out all the unwanted paths and re edit more cleaner shapes and paths in. I will then do a plain paper print to see what it looks like and edit it from there.
Re: first vinyl tee.
Today i thought i would give a try on something else, a friend who owns a bag shop gave me one of her blank canvas bags to try a press on. It was worth a try just to see if it would work.
So i did a cut of a skull onto some metallic silver vinyl again, weeded it and pressed it. The vinyl took really well and we were pleased with the result, best thing is these bags come in all colours from her factory so i can do any type of press onto the different colours and not just the inked designs. She is getting me more samples this week and i will press some more out and post up the results.
looks like these bags could be a viable product for me as well.
Heres the test press from today.

Re: first vinyl tee.
had a pop at something else today on another one of the canvas bags, i know its not vinyl but thought i would give it a go, its a cheaper transfer film, its ok and the result is ok, i sacrificed another bag as an experiment and this is the result. I have some great ideas for these bags and the smaller half size bags and will be trying them out next week. As it was an experiment i was not looking for an perfect fit just an approximate fit. i have a friend whos a seamstress that says she can pick the edgeband apart, and after a full press on the canvas re-stitch it as good as new, this will mean the print is under the edge banding. Went with the pinup look as its a green army style ww2 canvas bag.
