1st mug printed
Re: 1st mug printed
i have printed another mug i have raised the mug in the press and increased the temp to 180 and increased the time to 150 the top half of the mug i think is somewhere near close the black is still black and not brown you might not be able to see on the photos as they are low res the top pics are quite vivid butthe bottom half is not as good and i could see some marks and pitting on the cup so i did another got same results but the fading and poor quality was in a diffrent area so is this poor mugs i cant increase the pressure as i have found out it snaps the handle of the mug lol i did notice when i pre warmed the mugs as they are stored in a cold area the top half gets warmer than the bottom so is it worth trying silicon to help with pressure and turn the mug over or anything else i can try many thanks for all who has replied

Re: 1st mug printed
iam not getting very far i have increased the pressure temp is now 185 time is 180 the black is now just starting to go brown so do i reduce temp back down and leave the time alone ? i have read about this somewhere tried to avoid asking but cant find the post again thanks steve
Re: 1st mug printed
Have you tried turning the mug upside down half way through?
I think the temp/time is too high for the ricoh.

Re: 1st mug printed
thanks for reply vicki iam going to take temp backdown to 170 and up the time from 140 (reccomended ) to 160 and see what happens in my press there is like a black rubber doorstop to sit the mug on so if i turned the mug over half way through. the stopper would sit inside the mug and the top of the mug would be on the base and the blanlket starts about 5mm up from the base. i have been thinking of a way to put a heat proof plate the same same size as the mug for it to sit on but not worked it out yet iam running out of ideas i think it maybe a case of dumping the mugs i have and buying a new batch but was hoping to get a reasonable result on these test mugs lol once again thanks vicki
Re: 1st mug printed
Steve, Have you thought about turning around the 2 metal plates that hold the blanket in place. It looks to me that they are the wrong way round & are hitting the mug handle when you close the press. I would just do one first so the blanket stops in place & then change the other one round.
Re: 1st mug printed
thanks ian that sounds like a good idea i will go and swap them round that should allow me to increase the pressure will let you know later if it has worked thanks again
Re: 1st mug printed
hi ian i have reversed the 2 plates and i think your correct .they where possibly the wrong way around becuase now i have aprox 5mm extra room around the handle which has allowed me to increase the pressure without crushing the handle off my first mug was set manafacturer rec settings and was faint so i will try those again with the extra pressure i can now apply will try it later fingers crossed all will be ok
Re: 1st mug printed
Nice one Steve & I think you should be ok now. When I looked at the photo I thought that doesn't look right. Good luck & hope it has cured the problem.
Re: 1st mug printed
hi all problem solved turning the plates around to increase the pressure and an increase in time the quality is now very good just a little fading on one edge which i think was human error paper a little loose thanks to all on the forum and martin from bms for your replys and help
