We moved to using Raja because our normal suppliers were out of stock when we needed a load of stock for Christmas, as we were selling more than expected.

The company was Listawood.. it was an initial purchase of 72 mugs with 54 being unsuitable.. then the 54 that were replaced today had 24 unsuitable..

As most people seem to have not had an issue with them either a) I am too fussy and should have expected to occasionally have issues.. or b) they have a coating issue as has been discussed.

Unfortunately as a very first order from them it has left me a little dubious about going back.. but it has been sorted now to satisfaction

Thank you all :)

Was it Listawood budget or premium mugs? I know they are a competitor to some of us on here but they are a decent company overall. Without knowing how pitted / flawed the mugs were it is hard to know how fussy you were or bad the mugs are so hard to comment but you do have the right to be as fussy as you want. I would guess you are fussier than Listawood on things like this. They produce most of their items for the promo giveaway market so can get away with a bit more than people creating unique designs or one offs.

Great topic!
I have recently found myself in this position with a new supplier and questioned weather I was expecting too much for every mug to be perfect. I have used a few different suppliers and have to say BMS all the way (and no I'm not on commission)

It wasn't the budget mugs, no..
I understand maybe if they were having a few that may not have been suitable.. but I puchased the next ones up for a reason.

I guess I am so used to getting mugs and them being usable straight from the box :-)

i would not have accepted them, esp as this was the second batch - but always ask supplier first to try and resolve things, but seeing as this is a "replacement", i would have asked for full refund and went elsewhere TBH.
And NO, i would not have sold them either and your not being to fussy - this is your business & reputation, you gotta look after it -

Im glad this topic has been bought up because i have had a similar problem with a different supplier. I dont think you are being too fussy because i wont give my customers mugs that i think are sub-standard!!!! Reapeat business is so important after the hard work of getting clients in the first place. I was starting to think that i would have to accept 5/6 mugs in a box to be rejects, its is also a pain in the butt having to inspect each mug before fixing transfer. I too was thinking i was too fussy.......!
I have not tried Martins mugs from BMS but will do in the future due to the positive feedback received here in the DSF.
I have tried a couple of boxes from Longforte and they were absolutely fine. 1 broken which, now and again is going to happen!
I also use China Cans from Listawood, they are not the straightest of mugs and are a bit difficult to get the transfer to lay flat, but for what i do they are fine! And no rejects.

My last box I purchased came from Ralawise, I was asked to print one up and stick it in a dishwasher , this i did, printed it up with lots of bright colours etc, I kept it in the dishwasher for about 20 or so washes and it is still as good as the day it went in. The price was a little dearer at £54 which includes delivery and vat but at a time when a regular supplier is out of stock it's good to know they still can be purchased from somewhere, the mugs were ORCA COATING.
