Ok.. question for you all..

Maybe it is me being too fussy and wanting the best for my customers.. but I need honest opinions here please.

If you received a batch of mugs would you take into consideration you are going to get some that are unusable ??

For example some pitting in the coating near the handles that looks like orange skin.. occasional pits in mugs.. foreign objects in coating..

OR

Would you be sending them back as you know printing them up will possibly only accentuate the problems ??

I don't want to be looking too fussy.. but at the same time know my customers expect the same as I do..

Would you accept them.. or not ?

IMO unusable/sub standard mugs is not acceptable. If I was in your position I would call the supplier and see what they have to say. After all you are paying for X amount of useable product. You wouldn't send out sub standard product to your customers so there's no reason you should accept sub standard either.

Ring the supplier and ask what they are prepared to do.

Get your money back and find another supplier.

OK - who's the supplier?

I echo JohnG comments........a phone call first and unless the supplier can 'guarantee' the quality ask for a refund and go elsewhere.......oh and returns to be at their cost.

Naming them would help others to either avoid them or possibly comment on their experience with this supplier.

unacceptable.

The only way I might accept this is if they say "There's a chance that 10% may be seconds so we'll give you a 10% discount".

Like others, I'd find another supplier. If this one is particularly cheap, there's a reason!

I have had the same problem. I ordered 36 from a highly reputable supplier in Norfolk whose mugs are dishwasher proof. So far I have used about 14 and two of them are sub-standard (one had small pit and one slight crack). Just ordered (and received today) 72 from the supplier everyone states as the best. I will find out over next couple of weeks if these are any better. But if I was going to purchase more from first supplier I would certainly complain. As someone has said - you get charged the same, so all should be the same quality.

I don't think you're being fussy - I am exactly the same and will not send out anything that I am not 100% happy with. However with any product personally I reckon I have to accept that on average a certain percentage will not be up to my standards (for similar reasons that you state - pitting, bits in the coating). I work this into my pricing but if there are regularly more faulty than this I then get in touch with the supplier. I'm sure they want to know too, as they probably don't know about any problems and presumably wouldn't want to be knowingly sending out faulty blanks. I've always had a good response to reporting faults.
