Hi Guys and Gals,

Im sure you guys are used to folk tipping up, saying hello, asking a question, getting an answer and buggering off but i can assure you that we get the same on all the sign forums so i aint going anywhere :).

Before posting this question i spent ages looking through the problems section so that i could possibly find the answer myself but it was very hard to try and understand what people were describing so i thought id just smash up a photo and ask, WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG TO GET ALL OF THESE BLOODY LIGHT PATCHES?????

Ruined about 13 mugs today, not a good start

Looks like a lack of pressure. Also I know it may cause a bit of a discussion on here... but I tend to stay away from solid blocks of colour if I possibly can. It just highlights any small imperfections in pressure/mug shape/sub coating coverage....

Mug press or wraps and oven..

Could be a number of things.. but looks like lack of pressure or blanket issues ??

I also use wraps and oven, and as others have said it looks to me that you need more pressure. I use the heavy duty clamps from BMS and set them so they need some real effort to close. Might need to use an extra sheet of paper or a smooth silicone sheet as at the pressure I use I very occasionally get the pattern from the inside of the wrap on the mug.

I also use the BMS clamps.. and need some effort to close mine to get a good fit.. I also always wrap my mug with my image as tight as I can and then with silicone paper also..

Admittedly.. have never turned mine during cooking though :)

For times I use a mini halogen oven at 195 degrees for 16 minutes..

When I started I didn't use the extension ring on my halogen oven and got some scorching of the mugs at the rim, so maybe this is why they are being turned. With the extension ring though it's only the paper that gets scorched!
I use 200C for 17 min, use prewarmed clamps and oven.

Ahhhh see.. you learn something new every day.. I occasionally get scorching and thought it was down to my timing.. but now you have mentioned that it would explain it with the heat element being so close to the mugs.. and the possible turning.. a right lightbulb moment there lol

I did get an extension ring too.. must find it and give it a go..
