Time and temp does it affect things

If I do 180oC for 3mins the black is strippy and if I do 200oC for 3.5 Mins then the image is dark but the black has gone over.

Can you please try to upload a picture of the problem so we can see this?

right I contacted the bugger I bought the first press from he now saying its only for the 11oZ mugs what a swine he never told me that.

So going to wait for the new one to turn up then see what happens i will post what happens thanks for everyones advise and help

I'm not sure why a mug press would ONLY be suitable for an 11oz mug. This sounds like the supplier doesn't know much about sublimation. An 11oz mug is the name given to the Chinese import mugs which normally measure 95mm tall and 80mm diameter (they weigh 11oz). A 10oz mug normally has a diameter of 80mm, might be a small amount shorter in height but the thickness of the ceramic is less and so it weighs less (10oz). A 10oz mug and an 11oz mug have the same diameter so they will both print in a standard mug press - likewise other mugs such as the WOW mugs will also print in a standard mug press.

Your mug press has an adjustable clamp so it will tighten around a different diameter mug so it should print a variety of mugs, not just 11oz. The explanation you've been given doesn't make much sense to be honest.

yes you are right bms i do both 10oz and 11oz mugs in the same press No Problems at all

Right new mug press is here the thing is this one the temp drops down when the mug is put in and the timer does not start until the temp reaches the set temp.

The image is still a little blury could this be down to the time what time do u recomend as it takes about 1 1/2 to 2mins to get up to the temp before the timer starts thanks.

In the menu it has 3 settings

T= time
Sp= Temp
SC = Temp Variation setting.

This is how I heat the mug press up as the instuction with the machine recomend but then when u add a new mug the temp drops again.

What I was thinking is the time for a mug press is the total of 3 mins so if its taken 2 mins to get to the temp its still doing it so from the 180oc another min should do the trick or does that not sound right.

When a new mug is placed in it drops to around about 140-150oC then has to heat up again to 180oC.

Not noticed that on mine, got a mug to do, so will keep an eye on the temp when I swap mugs over.

Some presses work this way when you have them operating at 180 all the time. NEVER let you press heat to 180 without a mug in place (just use the same one over and over again) otherwise you'll be buying new blankets very regularly.

The mug will drop the temp and then re-heat. You should be sublimating for around 2.5 - 3 minutes so I'd suggest you set your time to 3.5-4 minutes from when you put the cold mug in. The temp will rise to 180 over a period of a minute or so and then sublimate for 2.5+ minutes at which time the mug should be done. These are the temp/ times we used to recommend on our DF10 mug press which operated like this.

Thanks for replys and think I may have it well it looks good on one image so will try another later and let u all no.

My press is like the one u are saying BMS but the timer dont start till it reaches the temp I have chosen so what I do is set the time to 60 seconds and this one seems ok
