Time and temp does it affect things
Re: Time and temp does it affect things
Hi there I was woundering if the time and temp of sublimation changes the strength of the colour that is transfered over.
If I was to do a Mouse pad and left it longer would the colours look brighter and darker or the same.
Also would this apply to other objects like mugs and ceramics
Thanks for looking
Doug

Re: Time and temp does it affect things
The longer you press for then the darker the image will appear and also less definition as the gaseous ink would cause bleeding, blurring and over saturation.
Re: Time and temp does it affect things
My images on my mugs dont come out as clear as I would like them to and I wanted a little help with it as I would like it to be crystal clear like I have seen them done on here.
Re: Time and temp does it affect things
If you can give us full information of what you use - press/oven, ink brand, mug type, paper etc. and also how long you heat the mug for, I am sure we can all work out exactly what needs to be done.
Re: Time and temp does it affect things

Re: Time and temp does it affect things
If the Mouse pads work fine, on a flat heat press, then I guess this points to the mug press. Have you had a play with the timings.
Re: Time and temp does it affect things
ITs leaving just one bit of the picture at the bottom u can see it on the paper after it does not go over to the mug.
The image colour seems to dark on some parts and also the detail is not there.
If I do 180oC for 3mins the black is strippy and if I do 200oC for 3.5 Mins then the image is dark but the black has gone over.
Whats type of press and times u use

Re: Time and temp does it affect things
160 degrees @ 3 minutes on a standard ebay mug press. It sounds to me like your press lacks even pressure across the whole of the blanket or its not heating up evenly. I could be wrong though so hope someone else trys to answer.

Re: Time and temp does it affect things
This might be a silly question but does Pro Ink sell sublimation ink and is that what you`ve got?
i maybe wrong but you maybe using the wrong ink

Re: Time and temp does it affect things
Its the right ink I no as I have done mouse pads and they are fine and a friend of mine buys his ink from the same company.
I have ordered a mug press from someone eles http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0580656796 so I hope this one will work better. I phoned them first to ask about it and he says he has used it himself and its good.
Been looking around and see that another ebay lister has a very similar mug press that states for 11oz mugs only.
