hi, my mates dog has had 5 puppies , he wants 5 mugs with a picture of each one and name to give to the buyers as a gift. i have done the pictures but when i print them out they really do just look like a dark blob on paper, is there anyway i could lighten the picture or should i re take the photos with a quality camera. they were taken using a iphone.
any ideas?

You could try and lighten it in the program but I think you would be better off retaking the photo with the sun behind you or a light shining on the dog. The iphone is good enough.

With any picture, you can not adjust what isn't there. Had a quick look at your image and there is some detail within the image but not much. It is also 72dpi which is very low res. I would suggest you pop back with the quality camera. Iphone is plenty good enough as long as it is set to maximum resolution, but if you have a machine designed to do the job properly then why not use that. Afterall, would you pick up your camera to make a call 
Also and just a personal preference, when cutting out an image I always draw round the image and then use feathering to give the edges a slightly softer feel. Not sure if this option is available in Elements but if it is you may want to give it a try.

PThanks guys. Been messing around with pics I used the brightness and they came out much better. Also I was unsure about feathering as I did not know what it did as I only learnt to cut around the picture today. I've printed my mugs so will try and put a pic up when I get off my phone.
