Maybe 100-200g tops. Maybe 30cm long, if you rolled them up maybe 10cm across?

Total cost from RM might be £1.96 if we go parcel size and 250g. Add in a postage bag and say £1 for admin fees we're still talking £3.50 and £3.50 profit. Customers arent daft when they see P&P. They know roughly what RM cost and a lot of people back out of ordering online at the P&P sections due to this.

So going through the cart after selecting three collars (just enough for a test run) I end up at the P&P section.... and was astonished at the cost of P&P.... £7 for 2/3 day UK mainland delivery! The items werent even that much to buy and I'm guessing didnt weight that much either. Gobsmacked I was. So I decided to look around at other suppliers costs and some were reasonable (£7 for 2 boxes of 36 mugs), some were *unreasonable*... £2.35 in one case for a single sheet of A4 transfer paper for uninsured UK Royal Mail first class postage. It just seems that some suppliers are trying to help customers out and some just seem entirely too keen on pocketing every penny. Sorry end of rant :(
I think you'll find that some suppliers don't offer a postal service and only a courier service. A courier service may have a higher minimum cost than postage, but sometimes there just isn't a postal service available in the area. Some suppliers do though seem to charge more than others (as you can see from Ebay as well!)

There was a post on here just a few days ago talking about p&p rates that people charge for sending things out. There was discussion about a price point of £2.99 (even though the postage was £2.48 or £1.96). So there was agreement that £2.99 was reasonable for postage and packing (including your time in taking it to the post office etc).

So which side of the argument is correct - charging or not charging for delivery? Increasing prices to give free delivery or being fair with lower pricing and charging for delivery (there isn't an option of lower pricing and free delivery as that's the route to being a busy fool for a while) :)

I think unfair is to charge £7 for courier service when courier charge you only £4,50 coz the amount is sending.
I dont know about others but most of my orders come with "recycled" boxes! I dont have a problem with it at all s long as my item is safe. but why charge so much box is recycled any way???

Not disagreeing, but just pointing out that "and packing" isn't just the box it gets put in. Someone has to pick the goods and pack them as well. Tesco's don't charge your for packing if you collect your shopping off their shelves but if you get it delivered then someone gets paid to pick and pack the goods for you.

PMSL @ ebay lol

but to bring up martins point...

incl p&p into price - price you see - is price you pay = higher product price might put some ppl off - "ah joe bloggs has the same product for £2 cheaper"...till they get to the checkout and find out its a quid or 2 more expensive than yours...

But are they committed to buying at that stage ?
or will they go - " that other site had it cheaper" and go BACK to your site to buy...
You got to look at retail selling psychologically & from the customers point of view - put yourself in there shoes as a buyer....
most woman shoppers tend to look for the bargin's - so they will look for "cheaper" price first...you will tend to find that, when woman buy, by the time they get to the checkout - most tend to go "sod the p&p price", i want it anyway ( having watched my g/f shopping online for many yrs & listened to her pals ).

guys, believe it or not - are the ones who moan about the p&p the most IMHO...the guys are the ones that get into the nitty gritty...get to the checkout...how much for p&p !!!..your havin a laugh - and cancel that order, and bugger off to another site...

but hey...thats just MY thoughts guys...everybody has there own views on this..happy selling :-)

the ebay add, i think they have not been able to find the collect only - as sometimes ebay wont allow you to choose that option, so you put in a fictional amount for postage ie the £500 to show people you are not willing to deliver - its not an actual delivery cost as such
