Cold peel need to be cooled before you take backing of as glue need more time to stick to the garment. When multilayering you press only for 3 sec and take the backing of and apply another layer. With cold peel it shouldnt be so easy as this flex wouldnt stick to garment in just few sec and would come of with backing. Is that make sense?

I find that with cold peel can stretch the fabric as you peel the backing away, in my experience, causing layers to be out of sync. Hot peel, obviously, you peel away straight away, thus I find it doesn't effect my finished product. Also it is a quicker process with hot peel. Hot peel vinyl tends to be a bit more expensive to purchase.

Anybody else have any preferences or experience with hot/cold peel vinyl flex?

You only press the vinyl for 3 seconds?

When multilayering you press only for 3 sec
I've never done this for such a short time - I always press for time stated in the instructions even with different layers or types of garment vinyl. I can see why, so the 1st colour/layer doesn't get too much heat/time but its never effected the end result (i've only done hi viz like this).

When multi-layering I normally press for about 6-8 seconds - anything more would cause shrinkage to the vinyl which would have an affect on the designs I use (6-8 secs works for me but it depends on how much 'fudge factor' you have).

I understand why shortening the press time for layering, although I don't, but is 3 seconds enough to release the vinyl onto the fabric?

I just looked at the Yolo instructions for their vinyl...yep, short press time of 10 seconds....wouldn't mind having a sample to look at...
