Hi,
I have a JK721 goldcut plotter. It works OK on my windows laptop, but the laptop is so old it will stop working soon. I bought a mac (OS Monterey) but I cannot get it working on there using easycut, which is what I have been using on the laptop.
I have a serial to usb lead which I bought as it said that a normal lead wouldn't work with it, so I have tried that (as well as a normal lead) and it says that it's sending the information to the plotter, but nothing happens. When I try and test cut nothing happens.
I have downloaded the driver necessary for the usb to serial lead, I have tried using different plotter names in the settings, changed the baud rate, used different leads, everything.
Can anyone please help me with this? I am so fed up and desperate for this to work!
Thanks.

Could it be the software not on the correct com port?

I've tried selecting the various ports or setting it to automatic but nothing seems to work.Mrteajunkie;153124 wrote:Could it be the software not on the correct com port?

I think serial to usb are notoriously a pain in the butt to get working on some systems.
I remember having about 5 different brands back in the days when I used to repair electronics.

Do you think maybe trying a different brand of lead could work then? I wasn't sure about this because they all have the same ftdi chipset which I thought was what mattered? Also if I did use a different lead I wouldn't need to download a new driver would I?Mrteajunkie;153126 wrote:I think serial to usb are notoriously a pain in the butt to get working on some systems.

I think it was the prolific ones that worked for me or something like that?
but that was a long time ago probably around 15 years ago.
Maybe try a different software?
I use sure cuts a lot for my graphtec cutter and there’s a free trial available.
maybe grab a trial and see if your new machine can see and cut something using the trial.
i used to use art cut when I first started cutting vinyl god knows why but I liked it.
then it just didn’t play well with the graphtec so I tried scal and I haven’t looked back.
Edit.
had a quick look on Amazon and this is the cable I used to use but it might not work for you as this is a different situation altogether.
mine was used for chip programming and jtag not cutting machines.
