Any one know a place to buy a one from ( Guy I bought has a Bampi one but they are bit expensive ) do you know any other cheaper silent compressor do the job ?. if so what sort of a capacity / pressure it needs . I can see so many models out there so thought to get some advice from a experienced person . Thanks again

Toolstation do a range of semi silent compressors at around 60db - compared with the usual 95db.
Not as quite as silent ones, but you can work next to it.

or try Hyundi.

May be worth also checking out Machine Mart and Screwfix.

The Bambi do seem to be the preferred option, maybe good quality.

I appreciate silent is probably essential but assume these only make a noise when refilling the tank so not all of the time.

We have that a1 press (same as Adkins model) and a very silent compressor so once in work tomorrow I'll let you know. It works brilliantly, silently and very small. Press is fantastic!!!!

The compressor we use is "Clarke Shhh Air 50/24 Quiet Run Compressor"
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/quiet-r ... essor-4-2/

I must admit we found a second hand one being sold locally for £150. Thankfully we have an air compressor company two doors up who fitted it in exchange for some mugs :-)

It is silent most of the time (as it is not being used) and when the press needs air it is very quiet. Basically it only fills the press with air automatically when needed and comes on for only say 10-15 seconds.

We actually bought the press a year before we could use it as needed to get double doors fitted to our business unit to get the beast in. Although not bought from Nova Chrome we did buy their metal frame which I TOTALLY recommend as well.

Thanks Olli ,
Thanks for the pictures, We have turned the machine on the other way round to get it through the door , and person sold this gave us a wooden table slimier to the metal one goes with and its actually on it now . He had a 32A socket for this and we are going to get it done now only the compressor is missing. I have a offer for a Bambi slimier looking one 50L etc for £275 in brand new condition (150 miles away lol) and I can see Hyundai ones going at £280 brand new with 2 yeas warranty . Will buy one of them .thanks again

A lot will depend on your circumstances. Do you work from a workshop, a retail premises or from home?
The bambi ones tend to run at about 40db, which is very quiet. They are used by a lot of Dentists and other businesses who need to use in a customer facing situation.
60/65db is comfortable to use in a workshop or garage - you can happily work and talk near to it - but in a house with a party wall might still annoy the neighbours.
95db is uncomfortably loud and is best kept in another room, with something to muffle the sound. (mine is kept in the toilet).

You don't necessarily need a massive one for a large press unless printing high volumes. The bigger the tank the less often the motor will kick in, but it will kick in for longer. Smaller t-shirt presses need a bigger tank because they are opening and shutting more times an hour.
