Roland BN-20 (Nozzle condition & Smears)
Re: Roland BN-20 (Nozzle condition & Smears)
Hi All,
The past 2 days my printer has been printing very faint and often the wrong colour. I have cleaned around print head and the cap station and ran multiple cleans normal/powerful which enables the ink to work short time then return to the smearing and faint prints.
I have noticed there is quite a bit of settled ink in the cap station which I will try and clean out once the new cleaning solution is delivered tomorrow.
Another issue is the Nozzle condition whenever I click test print the entire Versaworks Studio freezes so I am unable to perform this task I am not sure why.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I have attached some images also.
Thank You

Re: Roland BN-20 (Nozzle condition & Smears)
is this after the latest windows update?
If you open task manager is your cpu at 100%
I personally Would start my machine (pc) in safe mode and try to print a nozzle check and see if it still crashes.
If it doesn’t then maybe try reinstalling versaworks that blue looks a bit like it’s flooding and not firing right from the print head.
Do you have a local engineer you can call up?
Edit: I have noticed your using max 3 inks too.
my engineer told me to steer clear of max 3 maybe this is why??

Thanks for your reply.
I will need to look into the Windows update, I am running it on a older version of Windows not sure if this would cause a problem?
The term flooding sounds severe as the printer is not old about 4yrs old from brand new
I do not believe you can use any other Inks on the BN20 printers?
No I do not I am based in the West Midlands, How would i go about sourcing a local engineer are there threads on the forum? I have heard engineer call out charges are pricey.

Re: Roland BN-20 (Nozzle condition & Smears)
I run ecosolmax 1 inks on my bn-20 as do a lot of others here who own one.
Try booting into safe mode and try a nozzle check and clean.

Re: Roland BN-20 (Nozzle condition & Smears)
i have done several cleans now and also manual cleaned the printer from top to bottom.I also provided a head wash and ink pump the good news is there is now no smudge or ink droplets.
The bad news is my colours are now not printing clearly and are faint and not clear, Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Are you using a specific profile or general vinyl settings?Focus1;148072 wrote:i have done several cleans now and also manual cleaned the printer from top to bottom.I also provided a head wash and ink pump the good news is there is now no smudge or ink droplets.

what does your nozzle check look like?
The image above looks blurred and not at all defined.
Have you been removing the inks and shaking them regularly.

Re: Roland BN-20 (Nozzle condition & Smears)
I am currently using the standard profile settings, I have not changed a thing. I am unable to do a Nozzel test whenever click to do one The entire versawork BN-20 (Win) freezes....I am unsure where to go from here...
