Re: New cutter help?

Post by Mattie »

Hi guys

bought this cutter package on tuesday and received but can't figure out how to install blade (haha).
http://www.lovecut.co.uk/24-full-sign-m ... -365-p.asp

been told by lovecut it just sits in clamp but when put it in clamp the blade is not showing through black cap thing on end so how does blade come out when you press cut.

Hope someone can help i'm getting rather stressed out with it.

I've attached some photo's of blade holder.

There's no decent image of the cutter or the blade holder. Can you take a pic and upload so we can see what you're referring to. Might get some feedbacknthen from others...

Hi Matthew,
Take the blade holder off the plotter, run it along a scrap of vinyl and see if it cuts. If it doesn't leave a mark, unscrew the top silver and brass nuts together, but only a quarter turn, now screw the silver bit but not the brass, this will lower the blade - the brass bit is just a locking nut. The blade tip needs to be just showing, we're talking a smidge, hold it up to the light and you want to just see the blade tip. Once happy tighten the brass without turning the silver. Pop it back in the plotter and do a test cut, set the pressure so it cuts the vinyl but not the backing sheet - it should only just mark the backing. The vinyl i'm talking about is the sign/vehicle livery variety but its the same on t'shirt vinyl but maybe a little more pressure.

Hope this helps.

Hi John

Thanks, i've done that and got blade to cut by doing test cut on machine,

I can get cutter to cut using the software supplied (artcut2009) when i press cut and get cut screen i have to select port for which cutter is plugged in but none of my usb ports are showing up on cutter settings.

I've watched video on lovecut website and followed it but can't select usb port

A lot of people have the same problem as you with the usb - i've got mine on serial so no problems. When you installed Artcut, or the plotter drivers, you should have set all the parameters and this would include usb or com ports etc.

When you do eventually get set up always keep the Artcut discs handy as quite often, maybe once a month you have to confirm ownership by putting the disc in the comp and letting it re-register.

Sorry not much help with usb

Cheers John

have you got usb drivers on the cd? if so the please instal them with disconnected cutter
connect you cutter after instal. when you do that please go to your device menager and look for COM this is indication of your serial connection. I know! is wired! but your cutter connected via usb should be there. if you find it just need to remember the number of com. com1, com2 etc... set your cutter software to this same number as in your device menager. it willo work fine.

As JohnG siad. most people have this problem as they dont know that they usb connetions will still be under COM section insted of usb.

if you got more problems I will try to help you via PM.

thanks
