Mug Printing problem - probably not the first!!!!

On the left, on the Mug Tree - you see a Mug somebody actually bought me for Christmas !

I trust they bought it from you??!!!! Ok so the assumption needs to be, "if it's a mug which hasn't got "stuff" in it, or is hanging on a tree, has got tea in it"!!!!

I agree, if you get the chance you should go to Listawood, it certainly IS an 'Eyeopener'.

And, for sure next month join the rest of the DSF members at the Printware & promotion exhibition at the NEC.

lol, not at all......Whenever I join a forum I always tend to give my county only to start with.......just until you know who's around, I'm in Dereham, so a visit to fakenham is no problem. So do they have a trade counter then or soemthing?? or do you just give em a call and go and have a snoop??!!

Thanks for the info Quinsfan, those mugs do look very nice. I did see somewherethis method of "cooking" how long do they take to cook?? I could imagine this is a very good way of doing large batches, are the wraps expensive?? and I assume you could use a standard oven?? Obviously one that's not used for cooking!!!!

I cook them for 15 mins for 1 mug and up to 18 mins for 3. In that time I check emails print and press other work and even make a cup of tea. Today I also printed on the handle.[ATTACH=CONFIG]2382[/ATTACH]Just misaligned it slightly hence the smudged S but it was my first attempt. I know Mr Grey has used his cap press for doing handles.

That's very cool, yeah I've seen niks handle job!! It's a good idea.

So 15 mins and 18mins, well that I wouldn't be bothered by if I got consistent results to be honest, I'm still a bit miffed that my press doesn't seem to get up to the temperature it reads on the display, I did a mug todayfor a friend, and raised the temp quite a bit, didn't get any blowout at all,so was quite pleased....haven't done a full bleed yet, but in real terms I'm only going to be putting photos on a predefined area, one that I know willbe within the limits of the press, untilI can afford another method or press!!!

All in all though, I'm having fun doing it, yeah I'm wasting a lot of mugs, but generic versions I give to the charity shop, they seem over the moon at my failures!!!!! lol But in real terms I have allowed for my first 100 to be only fit for the bin, so I'm not getting frustrated about it, it's all part of the learning process to find that sweet spot!!!!

you can pretty much just pull up at Listawoods door, hand over some cash and collect the goods there and then. I am 99% sure they are still giving a discount to paid up members here - so might be worth paying the 10 quid to become a premium member.

They will also make up mixed packages of samples of various mugs - you have just the one blanket for your pres or did you get the full set?

If you ring in advance and talk to Kris Trewick you may well be able to get a quick tour of the works - mug printing on a huge scale!

And I'm very pleased to say I'm now a paid up member of DSF, it's rare that I part with money!! But with this forum I'm so impressed by all the help and info passed on to others, I think it's only fair do my little bit. So now you won't get rid of me!!!

Also just order 72 mugs from BMS, as mentioned above, so looking forward to making some more mistakes with the new batch!!! LOL

I would definitely do it for longer once image is on the mug. Also don't put to much pressure on it. Just enough to close it and keep mug tight. If you put to much pressure on it image will lose its sharpness.
also you can try to flip mug over in last 60sec.

Is that really true? I thought it is the other way around. My mug press seems to be terrible, its showing the heat element lines all over the print but its only visible in darker areas and large prints.
