Re: Placemats......yes those again!

We've discussed this many times before but I wondered if anyone has a decent solution where the end product doesn't warp! General consensus appears to be there's nothing available but I keep getting asked for them. At the moment I default to UV printed but would love to be able to sublimate again.

Anything new on the market? i don't want to open up the old debate over how to flatten them, nothing ever worked for me and I could do without the faff!

How about aluminium sheet, with rounded corners, stuck to a 3mm mdf, or cork base? Print the aluminium before adding the base.

We can just get the UV printed onto the wood or aluminium, I'd like a sublimation solution so they match the coasters. Not enough money in these things to start cutting and sticking cork etc :-)

I think i've mentioned before but cork back don't tend to bow like the hard back ones. We still place under a weight but NEVER had an issue with cork.

I assume you have an issue if you don't put under the weight though?

Ummm not sure actually! Might try on the next lot but never wanted to tempt fate. All I know is that with the cork ones we can taken them out after an hour (flat) but with the hard back even after 24 hours under 20kg weight they can still be bowed.

A nipping press would sort out any warping problem.

We've moved over to the PU leather type ones due to warping, good results.

We've even seen warping with the PU leather! lol. I printed a number of sample key-rings on the PU and have noticed over a few months they've started to fade quite badly.

Tested the smaller Unisub place mat and we got them 99% flat by flipping over and pressing again for 1/2 the time and then putting under a monitor for a few hours!
