Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
Hi folks, Ive done a few shirts where I've printed a 3 color logo using 3g jet opaque, over the top of that and out with the logo is mdp hotflex vinyl, the customer has come back and said that the lettering has came off, anybody else had this happen?
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
here is an image of the shirt and where the lettering has came off
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
here is another image of another shirt, the vinyl has adhered to some parts but not others as you can see from the 2 images
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
Would this be a vinyl issue, I have spoken to the suppler and they said that various colors of vinyl are made my different manufacturers so this may be the problem with the adhesive?
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
I've also changed the heat platen on the press, more or less brand new plate just in case its the platen that isnt heating properly
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
Has anybody had this problem at all because i've done it before and not had a problem?
Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
Well i've just spoken to mdp and they advise that hotflex isnt suitable for layering over Jet opaque 3g due to the ink layer, i've never seen this happen before?
If that is the case then what would be the best way to get around this problem with an intricate design like that?

Re: Jet opaque 3g and vinyl layering
Hi Paul
We only ever recommend layering the same product. Manufacturers test that the same vinyl layers without any issue but different medias react differently in the wash and have different coatings or are covered in solvent ink - so it would not be possible to test adhesion to every media on the market.
Have you tried printing the job in one go and back weeding the intricate detail ?
We also have a printable media (Solvent Dark Turbo)with a tacky backing that might help with the intricate detail. If you PM me your details i will arrange a sample to be sen out.
I hope this helps
