just double checked inks from city and wifes ordered the wrong bloody inks, a week before christmas, and with orders left to do, shes in the dogs house...

just found out wife ordered the wrong ink, now to try and get someone just to do the prints so i can print asap

Oh dear! You'll need to flush those inks out before refilling with new inks. You'll also lose quite a bit of your new ink when the printer fills the lines.

Maybe or maybe not the problem. This happened to me when I got my printer because I was too eager to get it going and didnt read the instructions fully.
Have you told the printer what type of paper you are using. For example you could have told it that you are using high gloss paper when you should have told it Inkjet plain paper.
I have a pdf with the setup instructions but its in German so probably wont help you.
Many problems are in the printer setup, maybe this is yours.
