Hi. Could you be a bit more specific? Which printer, ink, paper combination are you using? What pressure are you pressing at? Is your paper DEFINITELY in the printer the correct way round and not upside down (it happens to the best!)?

Re: tins - Printing nightmare
Sorry, just read your introductory post. So you have a Ricoh 3110 with compatible inks. I don't see how you can compare printing an insert for a tin with printing a mug though, as they are different presses. If you're getting a brown black on the mug prints then you are either overcooking them (too high a temp or too long) or the inks are rubbish. What are the expiry dates on your inks?
As for the inserts, my first concern would be that you are using the wrong side of the paper if it is leaving nearly all the ink on the paper. If not, then it looks like your press isn't pressing at the correct temp.

Ok. I have a Ricoh 3110 myself and CIE inks, so we're both singing from the same hymn sheet in that respect!kraken;128617 wrote:i have ricoh 3110dn

I print aluminium sheet, which is basically what you are doing with the inserts for the tins. I lay the print FACE SIDE UP on the press and lay the aluminium sheet FACE SIDE DOWN on top of it, so that the heat transfers through the aluminium. I press with a VERY light pressure, not much more tha just the weight of the top platten on the press really. Your temps and times should be fine if everything else is working ok.
Re: tins - Printing nightmare
date on the inks are in date, think im going to go get a probe and see if it is the temp, i have two tins left so will try one now with a light pressure, see if that works, just could do with it lasting till the end of the weekend got loads to do
Re: tins - Printing nightmare
Have just tried with Little pressure still same results

Re: tins - Printing nightmare
Hi Kraken,
I did something similar to this a few weeks back.
Turns out I had printed on the wrong side of the paper.
I know it sounds silly but if they don't have a backing on them its hard to tell isn't it.
Maybe worth a try over the top of one of the tests you've already done so not to waste your blanks?
Kind Regards
Adam Roberts

Re: tins - Printing nightmare
Have you any other items, a coaster for instance, that you could try pressing to see if it's a problem with the press temperature?
