Re: 3D sublimation ST3042 issue?

Post by ATOJAR »

Hey all. My 3D sublimation ST3042 machine has started playing up after only a couple of months of usage. The machine now seems to be taking close to 1 hour to get to 200c and sometimes only hitting 160c? where as before it used to hit 200c in under 10 mins! Any ideas why? what might cause this?

I bought yet another ST3042 so that two i have now and after a few weeks this has started playing up as well :( the digital interface tells me that the machine is at 200c when its clearly not as hardly any if the ink has transferred to the slate, again this machine used to work fine.

Please help.

Thank you.

It will probably be your thermometer sensors.

Easy to replace, pain in the neck to get hold of though, normally you have to go to China for spare parts and even then they are not that helpful.

See the image, the sensor is the long thing, but you may as well get a few of the other things as well. Sorry, that is as far as my technical speak goes. Make sure you order for degrees C or F otherwise it plays havoc with your readings

A search on You Tube will show you how to replace these bits.

Lastly, I think you maybe running the machine a bit to high at 200 hence why they have stopped working, you may want to consider a lower temp but longer time.

Good luck.

Hi, thanks again for your response, i just took my machine apart and it looks like the element in the bottom base is knackered! ... My guess is you where right in saying 200c is too hot and puts to much stress on the machines components, one thing i noticed is there is no thermometer sensor on the bottom/base element, is this normal? See my picture the bottom/base element has totally bent out of place and ruptured! :(

Gonna have to buy a new machine, a little off topic here but hopefully somebody can help me so i dont have the same issue with the new machine, gonna have to put them in at a lower temp but for longer as you said socialgiraffe. I mostly do mugs/cups and various sized slates, you wouldn't happen to have any idea on a good temp and length of time to put the slates and cups/mugs in?

Ouch, Although I have good news... I probably have one of those spare from the various machines that I have purchased and dismantled. I will take a look later are you in F or C (red or black?)

For mugs, both ovens on 180 degrees C with a time of 8 mins for one mug and 15 mins (approx) for 12.

I have no idea about slates, but I suspect it will still be 180 degrees but only the top part. I have not got a scooby doo on time.

Hi that would be awesome, thank you very much. When you say "red or black" you mean the actual colour of the machine right? If so its a black one. How much would you be looking at for it?

Thanks again.
