Re: Heatproof tape on mugs

Post by Phil47 »

Hi everyone.

I am a newbie, I have used quite a few mugs getting the pressure and temperature right on the mug press, but I am now having a problem with the heatproof tape marking the mugs. I bought my mug press from Mega, I am using the settings they suggested 180c idle and 185c pressing, pressing for 15 seconds. Using Durham Mugs.

Any suggestions will be most welcome. Thank you.

Watch the pressure. Should not be too tight at all. Paper type is important so perhaps look at this as well. As well as that 15 seconds! Should be more like 145-180 seconds.

I have adjusted the pressure, took a bit of getting right! The transfers are fine, but my concern is the tape marks on the mugs.

I have taken an image of the marks, the marks are hardly visible, but they are very visible to the naked eye. Tape from Mega Sublimation Printing Systems.

180 secs @180 degrees. 15 secs is not even enough time for the ink to turn to gas.
Many thanks
