Re: Roland Versa Studio BN-20 Printing issue

Post by Reading-Print »

Hiya,

I bought a second hand Roland Versa Studio BN-20 a few weeks ago, I have only just got round to setting it up as I got married at last weekend so didn't have time to do it as soon as I got it. My problem is that I have run a nozzle check and it comes out not correct see images attached, I have done all the cleaning stages including a manual head clean and it's still not right. I have also printed a test image and it starts off fine then it looks as if something is scraping across it but I can't see anything see image attached. If anyone could shed some light on what this could be that would be great as I haven't got a clue.

Regards

Damian

Looks like you need to do the normal routine maintenance, clean round head you get dried ink build up there which then traps fluff and drags over image.

Probably good to change felt wiper, plastic wiper and scraper and gige capping station a real good clean and check rubber seal has not gone hard.

Hiya ArferMo

I have replaced both the felt wiper and the rubber wiper I have also given it a very good clean around the head. I will check around the capping station tomorrow, there did seem to be a lot of build up of black ink on the old felt and rubber wipers.

They should be quite clean are you sure that your scraper is not shot.... they are a bit of a pain to change or even to see.

is the scraper in the same area as the wipers? sorry I don't really know much about it, I will take some pictures of the wipers tomorrow and around the ink pad area so you can see what it looks like. When I did the first clean it didn't look like it had been cleaned at all.

yes its down below them you can just see it about an inch down on the right hand side of the wipers compartment a right game to change as you have to disassemble quite a bit of the printer. as they are a pain to replace people tend to neglect them till they almost start to break up.

Fluff builds up at the back of the head and tricky to get at, can drag across work causing marks but not that bad. All as Arfermo says plus check your media isn't creased, bent or being raised up somehow towards the printheads path and touching as it goes over, should be a good clear gap all the way along the run.

Looks to me as though your paper is not holding flat because all the 'striping' is towards the bottom of the page and is page wide in it's effect. if it was fluff it would be over all areas so IMO you've suffered 'head striking' on paper that isn't flat.

Looking at the last two head prints...bottom middle and right..... there's a few 'mis-fires' but cleaning might sort that otherwise I don't think they will materially affect the print output.

Hi all,

I had a good look at it today, from the inside it looks as tho it had never been cleaned at all. Lot of dried old ink build up near the scrapper but the scrapper is in very good condition. Around the print head was some old dried up ink the I have removed with the correct cleaning stuff. It looked so much cleaner ran a normal head clean then a nozzle check but still miss fires, done a medium clean still the same results went for the powerful clean better results. So printed a test image and still the same results if not worse! I am wasting so much time, money, ink and media its a joke. I will post the pictures later of the latest test image
