And your responses show you have failed to read my comments on more then one occasion.

Black fails to be black regardless of using powerdriver or not, something i tried to see if would make any difference, not through lack of understanding.

My computer doesnt need to calculate color, i dont care about the shade of magenta or cyan. The issue is the Black the one colour that has its own cartridge.

I have read the forum, i have read the internet, i even mention that in my original post as well.

your advice doesnt stand, when it highlights the activities i have already taken and offers nothing new.

Some confusion there Paul, and my reply seems to have come between 2 of yours.

If you are correcting me to say that 0,0,0 black would require the creation of a profile, then you offer the sort of advice i was looking for, and with your blessing will proceed with ordering the profile from yourself that i mention in my initial post.

Out of interest what is the current lead time, last time i checked your site you still showed a banner saying delays, but believe you changed template since then.

Every colour i print and press seem to be fine, except for Black, it always presses as Purple. 180 for 180

I have attempted pressing black strips using Photoshop, and Microsoft Paint (I know that desperate), using the Sawgrass Powerdriver, and direct to the printer, everytime purple.

I read through many posts on here and else where and people advised increasing the temperature, i did this as well to no avail. 195 for 180

I must admit i dont fully understand ICC profiles, would one colour be so wrong while all overs are correct? I have toyed with requesting a custom profile from Paul, but if this is another issue the profile wont solve it.

The pic attach is some spot colours i ran, the lovely purple in the top row is meant to be black, 0,0,0 RGB

I have also attempted Printer manages colour, and Photoshop manages colour, both of which i have read to try. Photoshop manages colour resulted in all White being printed as Off Yellow, so stopped trying that.

Any help greatly appreciated

Pete
Hi Pete

I had the same issue when i started, this is how i solved it, 1. chuck the inks away you have 2 install saw grass inks. 3 delete the PD software. 4 Install a fresh copy of the PD software again.

Problem solved...

You only notice black because black is easy to identify, as being the wrong shade, the other colours will most likely be the wrong shades as well, but as you don't know what shade it should be, you have no idea.

My advice stands, you choose to ignore it, fine. You clearly display a lack of understanding of the basics, and if you stay in the business you will no doubt look back on this in the future and realise the advice is good.

I shall leave you to find your own way and comment no further.

Hi Pete,

I have a Ricoh printer (though not the same model as you). I can set the printer to print black from only the black cartridge. Go printer preferences -> Printer Configuration and uncheck the "print black using 4 colors (CMYK)". I seem to remember that the default is for this box to be checked.
If you can do the same you would be printing black only using the black ink. That might help the black to be less purple.

Hi Skye, many thanks for the suggestion, doesn't appear to be an option for the 3110.

Need to post this, certainly made me giggle, reading more posts etc, i came across the following line from jmugs only 24 months ago 'Sometimes lots of reading appears very counter productive.' amazing how peoples attitudes can change...

Read what is written
"APPEARS"......not "IS".

Hence my advice stands, but I tip my hat to you as that shows you are reading which is good.

You will get there.

Ricoh printer Sawgrass inks and Powerdriver or an ICC profile needed. This is the only way you will know that the colours are correct. Without either the printer cannot mix the inks correctly for any colour. The colours may look good on a chart but when you go to print a photograph they may go all off kilter ( not sure of spelling).
Many thanks
Iain

Equipment used A4 Ricoh printer, HP3085 Heat Press Graphtec cutter, Jarin mug press, CJV 30-60 solvent printer and lots of help from DSF.
