Re: Use film with ST-3042 ?

Hello everyone, I was wondering whether it's possible to use transfer film instead of paper with this machine in order to save time and avoid wraping and taping the cases ? Some say no, but I've seen videos where they actually do, so..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX0COld81tA (here is the video)

Thanks !

I am currently testing my new st-3042. I've used film for a 3D iPhone 6 case and I got some cracking on one end. It was also visible on the inside of film. Looks like there was too much vacuum pressure. Edges and corners looked great apart from that tho so with a bit of tweaking I'm sure it'll work fine

Gold and silver film from Spanish site called sublimet. It was also the only place that had iPhone 6 3d cases in stock when I ordered and delivery was only around €10 so I didn't mind ordering

Damn, Sublimet told me 3042 (well not 3042 but the one they sell, which is exactly the same, just another "name") could be used with film. Hmm, so you didn't try transparent film ? For now the videos I saw were with transparent film.

You can not use film with these machines. The vacuum is too strong and you will not get the position right each time. However have a search on this forum and you will find a way to wrap cases that takes less than 10 seconds per case...

No I used gold and silver film as I have Ricoh sg-3110 printer. I know post above says can't use film in this oven but had another try today but covered with a silicone mat before the presses silicone diaphragm and didn't get any cracking at all and it came out nice. I'm using polyamide cases, 8 mins @ 140°C
