Oki laser printer toners query

Hi. I have an Oki C531dn laser printer which I currently use for general printing such as leaflet inserts. I will be trying out different transfer papers for t shirt printing when things calm down after Christmas. My question is - I am sure compatible toners will be ok for my normal printing needs but not for t shirts. (At least that's what I have gleaned from posts on this forum) So, can I happily swap toners around, for different purposes, or will this totally confuse the printer so it doesn't know how much toner is left in each cartridge?

you will have to swap the drums also.

So do you mean that when you use compatible toners you have to change the drums? I wasn't aware of that.

there is quite a bit of toner in the drum unit

OK. I see what you mean. Easier (but more expensive) to stick with the original toners. Unless anyone has successfully used compatibles for transfers?

I only use compatible toners in my laser and it prints everything as the much more expensive OEM toners would.
