As title suggests my Adkins swing press wobbles a fair amount.

When you lower the top platen it wobbles and is incredible loose compared to when it was new.
This is a problem as it is not making contact with the bottom platen equally and as it moves around and can cause ghosting regardless how gentle i lower/release the press, Adhesive spray helps a little.

Im interested to know if anyone had this issue and came up with a fix?.

I've sent email and a video to Adkins..awaiting response from them.

Obviously they wobble a little as this is like a floating head but it sounds like yours is 'wobbling' too much! Have you checked the spring on the back of the press?

HI Justin,

Yes I've checked the spring, It looks normal...i think.

I've uploaded a video, You can see the wobble and how the front of the top platen lowers first.
I've exaggerated the wobble in the video to show how loose it is.
This may all be in my head but i'm sure it was never this bad.

hopefully the video loads.

Spring certainly looks ok. I would expect the handle to drop if the spring went anyway. Does look like something's come loose but I've never seen this happen.

Haha, good fix :-) Let us know what Adkins say. Might also be worth a chat with Xpres.

Similar probem a while back, upper plate kept on sticking when lowered. Liberal application of high temp grease on the guide spigot sorted that. Looking at the video you may have some loose fixings on the support bar by the lever mechanism, or internally. Easy to check by popping the lid, hex screw at rear has to be removed completely plus screw holding lid to swing handle bracket plus pressure control knob. The latter needs the retaining pin driving out with a parallel punch.

Thanks for tip, I'll get some grease tomorrow and try it out.

I unscrewed the lid, made sure everything is tight, which it is. But the support slider seems to have to much room & play in it, same with the handle section hence the mole grips stopping the handle from moving around, I'll re-grease everything tomorrow perhaps it help some issues
Hopefully i'll hear back from Adkins as well.
