What am I doing wrong?!
Re: What am I doing wrong?!
Hi everyone I'm new on here and new to sublimation printing on mugs and like most, I'm not getting it right at all. I need help.
This is my printer
this is my press
these are the results i'm getting
I've read a few things on the net about why this is happening ie times, paper I'm using etc. I did use the original ink that came with the printer which are these cartridges and then I installed the sublimation cartridges. Maybe the old ink is still in there and needs flushing out?
ANY help would be much appreciated. I've had the thing for a month or so now and I'm becoming very disheartened by it.
Thank you

Hi Anth
I recently bought the same printer + Sawgrass inks, it also came with a set of standard inks that I still have unopened. they are labelled the same as the one in your photo above so will presume that your problem lies there. these inks are standard pigment inks and NOT Sublimation inks...

Re: What am I doing wrong?!
i think this is spot on. Options available are to (1) believe the refill ink is truly sublimation ink and do a complete flush of the printer's ink as there will be a lot of this in the printer - this can take up to 7 minutes to flush through and you have nothing to loose - you may get exactly the same results or (2) buy yourself a supported SubliPrinter such as the SG3110 or the SG400 from a reputable supplier and start printing colourful photograph mugs straight away.mrs maggot;107084 wrote:I think its possible that you were given original cartridges, complete with the original ink, and then a set of inks for dye sub, therefore the ink you are running at the moment, is not sub ink its the std ink, and possibly they should have supplied you a set of empty cartridges for you to put the sub ink into. i would not bother pressing anything else until you have established exactly what ink you have in the cartridges at the moment

Hers's the ink the cartridges are filled with. It is sublimation ink
So who sold you this 'sublimation' ink? Looks like a scammer.

I'm with Martinx,
Anth1981 It seems like you have recieved a lot of paper for it to be Sublimation paper. Prices can vary, but for 100 sheets of Sublimation paper you're looking at maybe £10.00.
Judging from the paper on top of your printer, IMO it looks like a Standard bond paper, not Sublimation paper.
One side of the paper should be brighter if it is Subliamtion paper.
I hope you get your problem solved:biggrin:

Re: What am I doing wrong?!
Again I think this is one of the printers being flooded into eBay with cheap inks as the Sawgrass patent may have run out. You need to make sure that the ink is definitely for sublimation and that you have an icc profile. Your supplier should have passed all this information onto you.
