Re: Rucksacks Creasing..

Post by Ucase Ltd »

Hi All,

Everything I've made to date has been in a 3d machine.

I recently bought a flatbed clam press from Coralgraph (just a cheapy - nothing fancy) to get my feet wet with some different products.

It's been great with hard items but trying to do rucksack flaps I'm getting crease marks in the final product.

Printing advice for these is light pressure (As far as I know I have to guess the difference between light/medium/hard as I have no gauge).

I've tried pre-pressing.
I'm using a silicone sheet over the top.

Would be grateful for any advice?

Thanks,
John.

Tried to email myself a picture as I don't have a cable to hand but it's not coming through.

Basically there are marks where the flap hasn't sat 100% flat so there are white "creases" that haven't sublimated.

I think I know what you mean. Leave the flap under the press for a minute or so with the press open. The fabric will get warm, smooth it out by hand, it should look smoother now. Then press it.

Thanks - I'm still getting my head around what actually classes as light/med/heavy. With no gauge it seems to just be a judgement call.

Heavy... you should struggle to close the press.
Light..... put a sheet of A4 over the garment with the paper half in and half out of the press, close the press, you should be able to pull the paper out without tearing it.

That's Really Helpful! - Thanks!

And "Light" is much lighter than I thought.

If you are using 3D techno it's even lighter than light else it can't expand.... it's a wonder how it sticks.
