Mug printing probs with black and bottom area again
Re: Mug printing probs with black and bottom area again
Hiya, I'm having problems still with black coming out brown on my mugs. And always the bottom near the handle is faded. Recent ones seem rubbish all over! The temp is 170 at 120 seconds. This worked brill before with same mugs. Also, just ordered a grill plate that social giraffe suggested in a post to heat the mugs up. I've been soaking them in hot water. Do you think that has effected the mugs? I'm still playing about with temperatures. Just seen I should always have a mug in the press while it's heated, never done that before. The blanket is tight too. So much to learn! Any advice would be muchly appreciated. Wasting mugs makes me howl!

I preheat mine using the same grill that Social mentioned, but heat the mugs 180 for 180 secs.

Brown blacks suggests over cooking are you using a ricoh ? if so try 2 and a half minutes as foir fading edges thats probably down to your template being too wide 19 - 20 cm wide is probably as much as you can go up to 19cm to be safe

Thanks for your replies. It's a cheap mug press off ebay and I use an epson xp 205. I cook for 2 mins and yes deffo my print area was much bigger than previous. I've reduced the height but will also reduce the width and maybe fiddle with temps and times again, Julia

Re: Mug printing probs with black and bottom area again
if ive said it once ive said it lots buy cheap buy twice ! there could be an uneven heat spread accross the mug blanket which may cause the brown colour but id say your main worry is what are you going to do when your heat blanket burns out , and it will all mug blankets do eventually the problem will be where will you buy your new mug blanket from ? unfortunatly not all suppliers use a standard wireing in the blanket plug if you bought this off ebay do you know that you can get new blankets ? more to the point would you want a new blanket from that seller if there press isnt upto much theres a fair chance the blankets arnt either i see trouble aheadJoohlyauk;89514 wrote:Thanks for your replies.
