Best CISS ssytem for Epson 1500w

Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a CISS system for an Epson 1500w... are they all much the same or do any seem to perform better than the rest?

Ideally want to buy the system complete with inks.

I would avoid CISS completely, too many people struggle to get and keep them working properly, and then blame the inks or printer and assume they have a clog,when in fact the CISS just isn't flowing, either due to an air leak in the system, or due to relative level of the CISS and print head, or just because the printer wasn't designer to pull the inks through long ink lines from reservoirs.

Ok.. so what are my options if I don't use CISS, all the suppliers I've looked at only seem to supply this printer with a CISS system.

I used my 1500W with a CIS from City Ink Express and it performed pretty much faultlessly. You can use the piddly refil carts instead but if you're printing a decent amount you'll be forever changing them which in itself can cause issues.

Thanks Justin...Refil carts are not really an option I don't feel as we do have quite a volume to print and being full colour near A3, as you say I would be filling constantly and having to take the carts out to reset the chip. Also I have read that constantly removing the carts can allow air into the system which can also cause problems.

Ultimately it seems the way to go for cost and reliability is large format, this is something we will probably look to do later in the year, but initially the budget just won't stretch that far with all the other costs involved with this setup, I just need to get it up and running and producing a sample stock relatively reliably.

I would say a refill cart system is the way to go, although this doesn't leave many options if you're needing more than just 4 colour CMYK, and want a decent size 100ml plus capacity - I'm not sure of any home/office printers which would fulfill this need.

Looking quick online, a new 1500 with Sawgrass CISS filled with 100ml of each colour is £600. You can pick up used but good condition Epson large formats on Ebay for half that money...

Can't outsource really, way to many variables and options and I really need to be able to "tweak" things quickly. I have sourced a 1500w with CISS and inks for £480 but still I appreciate that it's far from perfect for the job. If I'm totally honest, large format off ebay scares me to death... I have absolutely no knowledge about large format, where to source inks, paper, cartridges etc, which printer would be right for the job.... it would be a very steep learning curve, one wihich I'm prepared to embark on over the next few months, the prob is I need to be producing work within a week or so.

There is a 9600 on ebay at the moment which I've looked at a few times now, but again it's £750 + carts + Inks, if it was £750 all in I'd probably take a chance...lol, going to talk myself into it at this rate...

We have three large formats sitting behind me (2x 7600 and 1x 9600) all picked up on Ebay for prices around £300. A set of 250ml refill carts is around £100, and inks are £75 a litre.

I have just bought a 1500w and have made a slight mod to it so that the CISS goes in without having to take of the ink cartridge lid, and it is great. So should I need to sell on it wont be a problem. GOt CISS from Coralgraph.
