Re: Red looks orange on faux suede

Post by Photomouse »

Hi,

I'm pressing onto faux suede but my reds are coming out orange. I've just had a profile done by Paul, so I pretty sure it's not that. We are pressing at 185 deg for 60 sec with a medium pressure on a flat bed heat press. We are pre-shrinking the fabric and using a board underneath the fabric to give it a solid base.

All the other colours are coming out a little bit washed out.

Any thoughts on how I can correct this would be appreciated.

Have you try to print this image on anything else?

What colour suede? It might be the colour that is causing a colour cast change.

Hi Paul, we will try it on a different substrate and see if that works.
Roger, the suede is white.
Thanks

Maybe better to print set of test charts onto the suede and get Paul to make the profile specific to that material (this is what we do - have separate ICCs for different product types)

Ok, tried changing the profile from Pauls to the original and it was still orange, then tried printing the same red square on our A4 Ricoh. The red came out a lot redder. Is it the profile or the Epson 7890 printer?

Attached is an image, the one on the right is from the Ricoh.

I would guess that either something has gone wrong with the creation of the ICC (print settings used for the printing the test charts) or in how you have photoshop set for colour management.
