slate cracked

I was going to do a number of slates today, so as usual, I put one on the press and warmed it up with the press down on it but with no pressure. I heard a ping and when I looked, the slate had cracked right through.

It's the first one that's done that.

Had a few like that, some which only crack through the front print surface - I guess that slate is a brittle natural product...
