Cutting to the edge ..... ?

Quick question guys (and gals) - if I may?

When cutting out a mug template - say if the image was all colour (i.e all the template was taken up with the image), would you cut it out straight to the image or would you leave a white border around the image?

I hope this makes sense?

To save time I just cut once. Size image, print portrait, slice off and use, also acts as a wrap to protect the mug. You are bound to get other answers cos we all do things our own way.
