Hi All

I have been asked to produce some mugs and maybe coasters for my sister in laws play group.

Does anyone here have any pearls of wisdom to offer on this??

I havedone a bit of research and it seems that using liquid paint is a waste of time as it just gets smeared and ends up everywhere!

I have seen special 'clear' inkless wipes that you use with a receiver paper - wipe the childs hand or foot and apply it to the paper as firmly as you can. I have also seen ink based wipes in blue and pink - same sort of thing, wipe it on and press.

I have seen assorted kits on ebay but don't recall seeing anything on the web sites of our usual dye sub suppliers - any suggested suppliers folks?

Water based paint, press foot or hand to paper. When dry photocopy into software and print as normal for the mug.

I may have mis-understood. So if that sounds daft.....sorry!

ink pads with sublimation ink. cut sublimation paper to smaller sizes. job done.

I use the inkless wipes.. but paint to paper works just as well as long as there isn't too much paint..

Where do you get your ink free wipes from?

Are they as straightfotrward to use as they appear?

Mmmmmm nice idea but i can already hear the sound a stampede of lawyers feet heading for my door!

I got mine from ebay.. the only issue is that if you touch the wipe.. then the paper you will get fingerprints appear too.. so you do have to be really careful with them..

I then scan them into my laptop.. crop the images and print

Would it not be safer to get the prints done in child safe paint and then scanned in?

You can get the MSDS and COSHH sheets from the ink manufacturer to check safety of skin contact with inks.
If the inks aren't running through a printer then the Sawgrass patent is not involved.

Can't think of other scenarios which would involve litigation

I'd think the litigation would come from children who possibly have an allergic reaction to the paints used. Done a few and always worked from scans.
