New bank notes

Hi all
Just wondering if these new bank notes that are due out in 2016 are made of polyproplene can I sublimate onto them? or is that still classed as treason?:biggrin:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25427663

I don't think you'd want to sublimate onto money because it still melts at high temperature, as it's plastic. The article says that they will melt if touched with an iron so a heat press will probably do the same.

Law Commission extract:

It is not illegal to deliberately destroy a banknote. However, under the Currency and Banknotes Act 1928, it is an offence to deface a banknote by printing, stamping or writing on it.

So no not treason but illegal.

a timely reminder, there are loads of fake notes about at the moment, £20's and £10's on the £20's its very common for people to have written along where the silver 3d band is, to make it look as if its been in a pile of old notes, as they cannot get the 3d bit quite right, also another trick is they put yellow marker on it, so it looks as if its been checked by a forgery pen, always use your own pen and always check - remember the bank dont replace them now, they only take them from you !!

I melted quite a few in the clothes dryer over the years!! An incentive to check your pockets.
