Re: unifrom blacks mug printing?

Post by soulclaimed »

Hi

I have just printed a mug using my ricoh sg3110dn the image is black and white stripes. I am getting a good wrap bar some slight blurryness at the verry edge that is barely noticeable but im wondering if there is a way of getting the black as uniform as possible, from a distance it looks great but on close inspection there are a number of tonal differences again barely noticeable unless looking up close. i'm probably expecting too much expecting the black to be black all the way through with no shades in it but is there a way to do this? i'm wondering if it could be that i am using a cheap combi press (swing away press with mug attachment) or if it could be the mug themselves. Or and which is probably the most likely, i am expecting something that is not possible?

Thanks

Tony

hello pal, i think this is the same issue another member had the other day,
where are the blurs that you are seeing?
are they at the top or bottom of the mug? or near the handles?
can you upload an image?

its not really at the top or bottom or neat the handle, i leave considerable space near the handle and my full wraps top to bottom tend to be ok the odd one right at the edges sometimes gets blurred but normally fine its more throughout solid black lines can only tell if i look up close but hardly noticeable from more than a foot away lol im just trying to make sure its as good as i can get it, its not bluur or smudging its just e very slight (minute) tonal difference. im looking for a solid black but im thinking this is possibly not achievable in the sence of a black bar on screen being printed with no slight tonal differences...

Something I learnt about getting Black as black a possible. You need to be working with a vector image so you can seperate out the black in the image. I work with Corel and this is how I do it.
Make a colour pallette in CMYK. Normally the Black is just 100% K. Try making it as 100% C, 100% M, 100% Y and 100% K. For other colours in the image you can use any pallette you like.
