Hi Folks,

I have been trying to make these with Yolo Opaque Transfer paper but had various problems.. I need a way of making these which is easy - duplicate-able so I was wondering if I should use Heat Flex (From my supplier - Metamark).

I am aware that I will not get the colours (as the text at the top) as the original, but hopefully I will be able to get the customer to agree to a slight change in order to get something more durable..

I am just not sure of the best way of going about it, I can cut all of the colours separately - but how to arrange them as the original and do it time after time?

I dont want to have to line everything up on an individual basis before each pressing.

Your best method would be to use a versacamm or bn-20 type print and cut, if I need anything I use the guys on this site like socialgiraffe and Rogerc .

ive just bought 25 sheets of YOLO opaque, what problems were you finding.?

I think my design is just a bit too delicate for the transfer paper, I got through 10 sheets the other night getting it set up for my particular equipment. for example I found anything else than 'Plain Paper' (in the printer driver setting) flooded the paper. I dont think there is any problem with their material, it's just not right for the job I have in mind.

Hi Nik,

I agree with the previous poster, either print and cut or OKI white would be the way to go, if it was on a white garment you could sublimate or use one of the white laser papers.

Cheers

I agree with the others, print and cut or Oki white. I have the Oki white and it will do this, no problem.

Sounds more like a problem with your printer i use yolo papers often and never had a problem of the paper being flooded i generally use the matt paper best quality setting . What printer are you using ?
Other options are limited you could go down the route of printable flex but to be honest you might as well use a transfer if thats the case or as dave says a versacm or an oki white or even magic touch 7.7. of course theres always direct to garment but not really an option for yourself more a job to be farmed out i believe stich up on here is the guy for that and very good at it too so i hear. if its for a number of shirts id ask on the forum if someone can do you some versacamm transfers

I offered on a previous posting but Nik wants to do it himself (nothing wrong with that I think), but you gotta love these Newbies

Nik, there is a WOW paper from TMT that you can use without the white printer. Now I know that it takes a bit of getting used to and you need an approved laser printer but that might be an option if you want to keep it in house mate.

Nik, I see your question as having two parts.
Firstly I agree with Dave and the others maybe a VC is the way to go here. I'm not so sure I agree about the BN20 as I hear it has loads of problems with contour cutting,(I know people who print with one and contour cut on a separate machine) waste bin replacement etc but hopefully Stitch Up can pop in and give a review of using his.
ISTR that this job of your was for 200 T-s? If I'm right then I would defo speak with some urgency with Simon and ask him for a trade Print arrangement.

If you can't work something out, can't afford the 10k for a VC and the time to learn how to use it, then maybe you need to look at printable Flex as a way forward.

The lining up thing in the same place, your other question, well you need a t square and a grid on the back of your paper (thats one nice thing about Yolo's JSPS) If you are unsure about where and what sort of square have a word with Yolo as they sell this http://www.yolo.co.uk/tee-square-it-cen ... -900-p.asp

Let us know what you think

Thanks for the advice everyone, always appreciated.

I may well have to ask Simon for help on this One, he has already helped me with small job I couldn't do due to not having the correct equipment - this is so frustrating for me as I like to be able to do everything, and have full control but in this case it looks like I wont have that.

I do have the time to learn new things, I am on this full time (I have other income streams) but I just cannot justify the 10k for a Versacamm.

As for the printer, that's a joke - its an XP-205 which came with my Press.. My Postman just came in for a chat about a job and he asked me why my Blue ink was almost out when the others are 2/3 full - That's gone down overnight, where it has gone is a mystery !
I really do need a Solvent printer but don't have a clue as to what would suit me - these OKI doofa's are £2k. If I could print onto Vinyl then a lot of my problems would be solved (I think).

Also, as for lining up the transfer paper properly, I was thinking about that in the night - I'm sure I could make a template.

This merchandise job (the Black Nightmare) is from my friend - he decided to open an online shop to sell his Merchandise just because I started this business - he did it to help get me started so I am not going to say I can't help - no way.. 'By Hook or by Crook' is my Motto (Although I tend to do things by the book in my old age).

I have just realised how my Blue has gone over night, there is a puddle where the head is parked, its all soaked into the sponge - so the CISS is knackered :(

And, the ciss tanks are exactly lever with the print head :(
