Hi all
Any views on whether it's a good idea?

its a pain in the #### if you sell your own designs you have to upload them to there 'storage system' and purchase a barcode to get it on the net

If they are on the phone to you, then surely the ball is in your court ... what do they want to offer you to tempt you to come on board?
Have a designer friend who now sells her products through them along with NotOnTheHighStreet and does very well out of it (she does from small stuff like coasters up to large lampshades)
Are Amazon wanting you to sell through them as an independent seller, or are Amazon wanting to sell your product? - I think there is some middle ground between these two extremes, so be good for you to know the deal in full.
Is this to sell your designs as finished products, or are they to be personalised/customised for individual Amazon customers?
How are Amazon going to promote your product offer
Have they got software in place to simplify the order process if the customised option?

Hi Pisquee, not sure I understood well. Do you friend sell on amazon and on her website or sell on amazon through her website? I sometimes think of selling on amazon, but the fact that they don´t offer "multilisting" is what keeps me out.

She sells on direct to the public through her own website and notonthehighstreet, Amazon are a trade customer, and buy from her wholesale (along with some other online shops, not just in UK) along with bricks and mortar shops.
So she isn't an Amazon seller with her own Amazon account selling single units to the public, Amazon approached her as a wholesale customer. So, every week, Amazon put in an order from her and buy the stock from her at her wholesale prices, and she ships it to Amazon. Amazon then sell her products to the end customers for their own profit.
This is the type of deal I was thinking/hoping JMugs was talking about as Amazon had approached him.

Always imagined that Amazon would buy only from the very biggest providers. Very interesting!

Amazon were talking about me selling on there as myself. Not supplying them wholesale.
In other words just like a shop on eBay.
