Re: A bit of a sideways question - Laser cutting / Sublimation printing

Ok here goes. We all know that sublimation printing is done onto a polymer. Now what flat sheet "plastic" polymer material can one laser cut and also print onto. Materials such as acrylic sheet (Perspex), UHI, Styrene & PVC really don't like to be heated to 360 degrees. The other problem is that those materials are not polymers so the ink does not bond. MDF, even coated MDF, doesn't work. I've been told that fibreglass impregnated MDF is the thing to use but of course the laser cutter doesn't like fibreglass. I suppose that there is another way to do it and that would be to laser cut a material that can withstand the heat created by the press and then spray it with a polymer to enable dye sub printing....

Good day!
Did you ever find a product that you can print by sublimation and can be laser cut? I am trying to find a solution to this problem as well.
